Taylor Swift broke her silence on Netflix series Ginny & Georgia‘s distasteful joke about her love life, calling it out for what it is: sexist, dated, and harmful to women. Posting a screenshot of the line, “What do you care? You go through men faster than Taylor Swift,” Swift expressed her disappointment in the series’ writers and Netflix.
“Hey Ginny & Georgia, 2010 called and it wants its lazy, deeply sexist joke back,” she wrote. “How about we stop degrading hard working women by defining this horse shit as FuNnY. Also, @netflix after Miss Americana [the streaming company’s documentary on Swift] this outfit doesn’t look cute on you 💔 Happy Women’s History Month I guess.”

Swift has spoken out before about the media coverage of her love life, revealing 1989‘s “Blank Space” was in part inspired by that false narrative about her.
Back in January 2016, she said, “It got pretty out of control there for a couple of years. … Every article was like, ‘Taylor Swift, standing near some guy—watch out, guy!’ …My first reaction was to be like, That’s a bummer. This isn’t fun for me. But then my second reaction ended up being like, Hey, that’s actually a really kind of interesting character they’re writing about. She jet sets around the world, collecting men, and she can get any of them … but she’s so clingy, so they leave and she cries and then she gets another one in her web and she traps them and locks them in her mansion and then she’s crying in her marble bathtub surrounded by pearls. So I was like, I can use this.”
In Vogue‘s 73 Questions video with Swift, released that same year, she touched on that point again when asked what she’d tell her 19-year-old self. “Hey, you’re going to date just like a normal 20-something should be allowed to, but you’re going to be a national lightning rod for slut-shaming,” she said.
Swift has been in a relationship with actor Joe Alwyn for more than four years now.
